Class 9: East Barnby Trip: Day 1

Welcome to our first update for this year's East Barnby residential visit.

The children left a sunny and breezy Scarborough on time and arrived at a sunny and very windy East Barnby on time.  They were successfully issued with kit to keep them dry and windproof for the next few days and after lunch had a really positive session beck scrambling.  Mrs Buttery says, 'The children were very excited but pulled together, reassuring each other, and having a go at all challenges.'

They are now getting ready to go for their evening meal and finish off the last bits of bed making.

End of first day message :-

Mrs Buttery and the team report that the children continued to work well together to ensure they were organised enough to be ready to all enjoy a hearty evening meal.

After some time enjoying the tuck shop and the recreation room, the children worked in small groups to explore the centre in the dark while rounding up 'aliens'. The children were also able to observe the stars in the clear night sky. The wind has gradually eased off.

The staff have worked with the groups to reflect on the successes of the day - there are many. By 8.30 children were ready for a good night's sleep (in well-made beds) so they will be prepared for tomorrow's expedition down the Esk.

Look out for further updates on here and the Parent App.
