Profile:

I have been a governor at Newby & Scalby Primary School since 2013 where my two children are currently pupils. I was born in Scarborough, attended Scalby School and Scarborough 6th Form before leaving the town to study at the University of Liverpool, returning to Scarborough in 2004.  Professionally I have worked in relationship management and business development nationally within the financial services sector. I have been a governor at Newby & Scalby Primary School since 2013 where my two children are currently pupils. I was born in Scarborough, attended Scalby School and Scarborough 6th Form before leaving the town to study at the University of Liverpool, returning to Scarborough in 2004.  Professionally I have worked in relationship management and business development nationally within the financial services sector.  Latterly I have been more focussed on supporting businesses in the local area and work as recruitment consultant at Castle Employment, specialising in accountancy and finance recruitment.  I believe that my professional experience outside of the education sector can help to bring a different view point to the governing body.

Profile:

I have been a member of staff at Newby and Scalby Primary School since 2003 having lived in worked in London for the previous 20 years. I am the Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo with a responsibility for all aspects of pupil performance. I was first elected as a staff governor more than 10 years ago and now I am a co-opted governor.

Profile:

  • I became a governor of the school a number of years ago whilst still a Parish Councillor, and stayed on as a Community Governor when I retired from the Parish Council;
  • I have since had two grandchildren begin attending Newby and Scalby Primary School;
  • I have worked in management for many years and most recently have become Senior Manager and Head House Keeper at the Ox Pasture Hall hotel;
  • I am also the voluntary treasurer for the Barrowcliff Residents Association, a role which I have done for 3 years;

I am the mother to 7 children, which has provided me with plenty of parenting experience that also assists with my decisions.

  • I became a governor in November 2019.
  • I have 2 grandchildren at Newby school and one due to start Nursery in December.
  • I have been a teacher for 17 years, qualifying in Advanced Early Years from Hull University. I began my teaching career at Springhead School, a specialist school for children with complex needs. I achieved my Masters in Special Needs Education with distinction in 2013 from University of Birmingham.
  • I lectured on several occasions at Hull University to trainee teachers.
  • I became Specialist Teacher at Malton Primary Enhanced Mainstream School in 2013, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. I then became Teacher in Charge of the specialist unit in 2014 and trained in writing Education and Health care Plans as well as several child therapeutic interventions. I was also Deputy Head of the school from 2015 and Lead for Child Protection/Safeguarding, then Acting Headteacher.

Profile:

I joined the school Governing Body as a Parent Governor in November 2016.  I was born and bred in Scarborough.  I left to go to University, eventually returning ‘home’ to raise my family.  I have previously worked in Human Resource management, mainly in National Museums and Galleries, before retraining in Careers Guidance.  This has now evolved into a career working for Children’s Social Care, supporting young people leaving Care.

  • My name is Hayley Brown and I am a 37-year-old mum of three boys, all of whom currently attend Newby and Scalby Primary school. 

    I have previously worked as a qualified social worker within our local youth justice service. I ended this employment to focus on my three boys and I now work within the HR department of our family business. My employment history has helped me have a sound understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, barriers to inclusion and the important protective influence education has on children. I feel these skills will help me contribute to the governing body alongside my desire to continually improve quality and outcomes for all children.
